Galenika a.d. is a major pharmaceutical company in Serbia, controlling one third of the pharmaceutical market share in the country. Founded in 1945 it remains one of the largest Serbian companies dominating the Balkan region.
Still a state owned company, Galenika is gradually moving towards a privatized model.[2][3][4] As of 2006, Galenika remains a leader in research and development as the only pharmaceutical company in Serbia with an institute registered with the Ministry of Science and Environmental Protection.[5]
According to its most recent annual financial report submitted to Serbian Economic Register Agency, the company has 2,711 employees and it posted an annual profit of RSD949,920,000 (approximately €11.9 million at the time) for the calendar year 2007.[6]
Galenika exports its products in Europe, Africa and Asia.
